These pastels have found the perfect home. Having a connection with someone through my art is the greatest compliment.

Although it is the greatest compliment to be asked to pursue a commission, I must admit that commissions are also the most difficult works. When one of those ideas of what I want to paint bangs around in my head for various periods of time, I am doing the painting to please me...to make my statement. On the other hand, while the height of honor, commissions are hard. I try to picture what would please someone else and that is a completely different process. I have 5 pending commissions as of July, 2020 and these are a few I have finished.
As Far as the eye can see
A good friend and her husband had built their dream home overlooking the Platte River in Nebraska. She asked me to paint a fall scene from their property. I called it "As Far as the Eye Can See." It holds a place of honor in a home filled with beautiful art.
Ode to Bruce
My goddaughter and her new husband lived in a beautiful home, also overlooking the Platte River in Nebraska. She asked me if I would do a painting of a photo she had taken one magical moment just at last light Unlike many artists who paint commissions, my only requirement is that I experience what I'm being asked to paint. What could I do when she asked? I did visit her home and took many photos of the scene. I titled this one "Ode to Bruce".
Ruby
My good friend and part of a family of dog-lovers, told me that her daughter's dog, Ruby, had been diagnosed with terminal cancer. She asked me to paint a portrait of Ruby for her daughter. I visited while Ruby was still in fairly good health, got to know her, and was able to do the pastel.

Final Week of the Session
My husband’s career was in governmental relations. When he sold his longstanding business, the new owner commissioned me to do a painting for the lobby area. This is the Nebraska State Capitol building.
